Karate Boy of Coimbatore in South Africa!
It was almost a cracking day for A2z team today. Two quick fire interviews with young bloods. Oh, yeah, there is no doubt that Coimbatore is becoming one of the fast talent manufacturing city. Here we go an exclusive interview with Mr. R. Naresh Kumar– Final year ECE student of Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore who will be landing in South Africa today to participate in the Common Wealth Karate Championship. He will be battling it out for the medal along with 45 other Country aspirants.
So what’s special about Naresh?
Quite a lot! This journey for him has come after a lot of sweat, failures, criticisms and more ….

Ten years ago, Naresh was forced by his father to join the karate class and it was with reluctance that he joined. But within a few days, he realized that this was gonna be a tough bet. Days passed by and training continued to be the same until his master realized that this kid had something special in him. With continuous motivation and training provided by his two masters Mr. Abdul Subhan and Mr. Muthuraju, Naresh began to love what he was into. Slowly it turned into passion. Regularity, dedication and hard work started paying off slowly. He won a few domestic tournaments and his two dedicated masters kindled his flame of confidence which made him win two gold medals at the national level.
The journey continued day and night and finally the Golden day came last year when Naresh was selected to participate in the common wealth games held in Scotland. But due to the delay of his Visa he was not able to participate in the tournament. But Karate guys are a bit different. Instead of sitting in a corner and crying, this guy took a vow that he would make a come back. After another year of increased hard work, more concentration and more training , now Naresh is on his way to South Africa to participate in the Common Wealth Karate Championship.
Naresh wants to give the credit of his success to his H.O.D.Mr. Thinappan, principal Mr. Rangarajan , the director and trustee of his college ,his class mates(Final E.C.E 2006-2010) , the faculty of E.C.E., his juniors and all his friends doing the diploma.
Apart from his gurus, Naresh dedicates his success to his parents Mr. Rajendran and Mrs. Bagyalakshmi, relatives, well-wishers , father’s friends , his five best friends, Lakshmi Kanth, Harikrishnan, Shanmugam, Suresh kumar, & Ashok Kumar and his Karate mates Prem Bhadhur for having been with him during all his tough times.
A2Z Team wishes Naresh a great tournament and hopes he will be the next Golden Boy of Coimbatore who will do our Nation Proud. Jai Hind!
Naresh is grateful to his college for the financial assistance of Rs. 40,000/ and to Mr. Prabhu from U.K. who sent him Rs.15,000/.
Like many others Naresh also feels that while cricket is given all the attention, the other fields of sports are neglected. He would like to request the corporate bodies to sponsor talented youngsters like him who would win medals and recognition and honour for the nation. Many such people are languishing because of the lack of financial support.
If you want to send your wishes to Naresh, you can shoot a mail to a2zcoimbatore@gmail.com and your wishes will be forwarded to him.
